Art is a county commissioner of San Miguel County in Colorado and is the first elected Green in Colorado. In 2000 his county got the highest percentage of the vote for Ralph Nader. He and libertarian Sherriff Masters cross endorse each other. He runs the Mushroom festival in Telluride which attracts hundreds of people including such luminaries as Dr. Andrew Weil, author of best selling books on natural healing and psychedelics. Nobel Prize winner Kary Mullis and psychedelic pioneer Terence McKenna have also spoke there.
