Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Since receiving his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas in 1982, he has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles. An active trader of the equities index markets, Dr. Steenbarger recently authored The Psychology of Trading (Wiley, 2003), which applies brief therapeutic principles to the development of trading expertise. He is also coeditor of the forthcoming Art and Science of the Brief Psychotherapies (American Psychiatric Press, 2004), a comprehensive overview of approaches to accelerated psychological change. Dr. Steenbarger's most recent research interests concern the use of biofeedback derived from regional cerebral blood flow to improve concentration, attention, learning, and performance among financial traders
