SCCS.PROMOTE

SCCS.PROMOTE is embedded within the screen, AUTHORIZE.PROMOTE.
SCCS.PROMOTE can be run at the command line to manually promote an item or a group of items.

WIN AUTHORIZE.PROMOTE must be run for a project to setup permissions, before SCCS.PROMOTE can be run in a stand-alone mode from the command line

To run the utility, SCCS.PROMOTE from the command line:

Syntax

  • SCCS.PROMOTE FROM Project {libIdList}
  • SCCS.PROMOTE FROM Project {FileName ItemId}
  • SCCS.PROMOTE FROM Project

where:

  • libIdList
    • takes the form: account_filename_itemid ... {account_filename_itemid} ....
  • FileName ItemId
    • Specifies a single item. The account name name is retrieved
  • Uses RELLIST by default.

SCCS.PROMOTE will not work without an existing authorization.
The user-id field in the authorization requires the user password.
If the user password does not exist, use “PASS”

“To Projects” must be passed for promotion from within “NUPROJECT TargetProjectName”

The project “Type” field can be:

  • Development - no promotion allowed, as Development is the source
  • Quality Assurance (from a Development account)
  • Production (from a QA account)

The project “Promote From” field contains the valid project name that acts as the source of the promotion.

  • Promotion is allowed FROM, never TO.
