James Von Ehr
James Von Ehr is the founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Zyvex Corporation, the world's first, private, for-profit nanotechnology company. In the Spring of 2003, Von Ehr testified before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for Bill S.189, The 21st Century Nanotechnology Research and Development Act. He is an invited member of the Nanotechnology Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the U.S. President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). Jim is recognized as a respected leader within the nanotechnology industry; proof of his commitment is his personal contribution of $3.5 million to establish the University of Texas at Dallas NanoTech Institute. He has also endowed the James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair of Science and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas, held by Nobel Laureate Dr. Alan G. MacDiarmid (2000 in Chemistry). In his talk, he will separate the reality from the hype about nanotechnology for us.
