Katherine Albrecht is a consumer privacy expert and the founder of CASPIAN, Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering, a national organization created in 1999 to educate consumers about shopper surveillance. Katherine has conducted extensive research on surveillance technology used in retail stores, uncovering everything from homing beacons hidden in grocery carts to microphones that record conversations at sit-down restaurants like Denny's. Katherine holds an undergraduate degree in International Marketing and a Master's degree in Instructional Technology. She is currently completing her doctorate in Education at Harvard University where she is writing her dissertation on consumer education and privacy.
