Kent van Cleave

Kent van Cleave has completed coursework for a doctorate in the philosophy of science at Indiana University, Bloomington, and is now embarking on the dissertation phase. To pick only a few highlights, his colorful past includes a Bachelor's degree in music theory and a Master's in philosophy from Arizona State; a Vietnam-era stint playing trumpet in U.S. Army bands; three runs as a Libertarian for various state houses; editing the national magazine of American Mensa; creating and publishing anti-police-state parody posters at http://welcome.to/HomelandSecurity1; founding and operating the voting strategy website, VoteBuddy.com; and wielding graphic design and wordsmithing skills on behalf of the Michael Badnarik for President campaign 2004. Kent will discuss his alternative to a famous approach to naturalizing ethics advanced by philosopher Allan Gibbard.
