L. Neil Smith

Smith is the well-loved and widely-read libertarian sci-fi author of 20 books, including The Probability Broach, Tom Paine Maru, Henry Martyn, and The Mitzvah (with Aaron Zelman). He is also one the staunchest supporters of an armed (and thus polite) society. Smith will share his bold and feasible plan concerning the possibility — and urgent necessity — of getting ordinary human beings into deep space on a permanent and profit-making basis (and providing the chance to hunt and destroy asteroids!). Many of you have wished for Smith to speak at Eris, and this is the year!
L. Neil Smith is working on a very exciting "Space Scouts" project to captivate the current generation of space tourism interested children and make them a force to be reckoned with.
The Space Scout Manual, will be aimed at creating, within a decade or so, an enormous political and social constituency --a group of millions --who are grimly determined to get into space themselves, and who won't take "No" (or even "just give us another thirty years") for an answer, from NASA or from anybody else.
