General Category Listing

Yes, NuWiki can ably function as a collaborative tool to build fully indexed documentation, instruction manuals and web based information portals, following industry standard syntactical convention.

NuWiki is different

NuWiki offers the ability to provide interactive yet secure, access to information stored in files on a private MultiValue host, where:

  • Applications and data live
  • Users must not only register, but are accorded privilege by system administrators
  • NuWiki "Accounts" may be setup with restricted access making them 'private'
  • No user may make a change without appropriate privilege
  • Access and Update rules are 'encapsulated' on the host, ensuring both security and data integrity
  • 'Rock-solid' change controls capture and record the modification of every NuWiki page
  • Change reporting not only shows what changed and when, but the differences between current and previous documents or entries
  • Audit controls support SOX and ISO900x requirements for regulatory compliance
  • Host based methods enable controlled accessibility to MultiValue data
  • Information on NuWiki pages CAN BE EASILY GENERATED from MultiValue data
  • NuWiki is the only wiki application that runs on a MultiValue platform
  • Information in a MultiValue database can be securely updated from a NuWiki page ONLY by a user that
is 'logged in' with appropriate privilege
  • As data is changed on a host system, current changes can appear on NuWiki pages
  • Access can be controlled according to:
    • User access privileges
    • Group privileges
    • Account level privileges
    • File level privileges
    • Field level privileges

How is this accomplished ?

  • Rules are created on the host using Nucleus Technology
  • The StarSite XML engine provides the methodology for output/input, in concert with:
    • HTML, Stylesheets, Java script, XML, AJAX and other technologies as required
    • Security layer
    • Rules layer
    • Host based data (controlled by Nucleus based rules)
    • Change controls (transparent to users, editors and administrators)
    • Reporting facilities
    • Import facilities
  • Change control is handled by the NuControl layer
  • Web interaction is managed through Apache or IIS depending on O/S
  • Data and forms are handled by NUEXE
  • Users are registered according to one of five levels:
    1. NuWiki nerd (complete autonomy)
    2. Administrator
    3. Editor
    4. Contributor
    5. Reader

What does NuWiki require ?

  • NuWiki being installed as a "Private Wiki" on your server where a current MultiValue database such as
UniVerse, D3 or QM is being used to manage a business or organization.
  • Apache or IIS being operational and accessible via your network, to your server.
  • Orientation and Training in the use of Nucleus Technology and the underlying components of NuWiki for programmers and/or developers.
  • Licensing and installation of Nucleus Technology
  • Sufficient disc space, memory and CPU speed to meet anticipated use levels and storage requirements.
